2011 Q2 Starwood Promotion

Got word today from an inside source at a hotel I frequent that the 2011 Q2 Starwood Promotion will be VERY lucrative.  Details as follows:

• Earn 1 Free Award Night for every 3 stays at over 1,000 SPG hotels and resorts worldwide
• Award Nights can be redeemed at over 200 resorts worldwide through December 21, 2011
• Unlimited Award Nights can be earned and there are no blackout dates for Award Night 

This means that for every 3 stays (check-in, check-out = 1 stay), you will earn 1 free night (including resorts). SPG has done this type of promotion in the past, however, the award nights were only usable on weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun).   I think this is a great promotion and is definitely going to cause me to hotel hop. The schedule will probably go something like this:

Fly in Sunday night. Stay at the Sheraton by LAX Airport (1 stay)

Switch to Sheraton Pasadena for Monday night (2 stays)

Check out Tuesday AM and check in to Doubletree Monrovia 

Check out Wednesday AM and check back in to the Sheraton Pasadena (3 stays)

This should earn me 1 free award night per week. I am going to try to negotiate a better rate at the Westin in Pasadena so that I can hop back and forth between the 2 and not have to leave Starwood. This will also give me an additional 1,500 Starpoints per week for the Platinum amenity.
